Our Favorite YC Startups Shaping Education and Career Building

Share:

For Educato, Y Combinator was a truly unique experience that allowed us to 10x our business in just 3 months. On top of that, we had the opportunity to meet visionary startups committed to transforming all areas of society. However, one thing we noticed is rare VC-backed edTech startups. Educato was the only Education company in our YC batch and to our knowledge, we are the only ex-Palantir Education startup. So today we wanted to highlight some of our favorite fellow YC companies building in the Education and career improvement space. We want to share some of our favorite companies from recent YC cohorts—Univerbal, UPchieve, Hiration, and Avocademy—who inspire us with their unique products.

The best EdTech companies in Y Combinator

1. Univerbal: Bridging Cultures Through Language Learning

Univerbal ooffers immersive language learning experiences that adapt to each user's learning style, using cutting edge AI.

Why We Love Univerbal:

  • Our Shared Vision: Just like Educato, Univerbal believes in personalized learning.

  • Cultural Impact: They're not just teaching languages; they're creating global connections.

2. UPchieve: Championing Educational Equity

UPchieve stands out in for their dedication to providing free, online tutoring and college counseling to low-income high school students. They are a nonprofit, which is still too rare in the startup world, addressing educational disparities head-on.

Why We Love UPchieve:

  • Collaborative Spirit: We admire their ability to mobilize volunteers for their cause.

  • Community Impact: They're making a concrete difference in students' lives.

3. Hiration: Empowering Job Seekers with AI

We loved exchanging ideas with Hiration during YC meetups. Their AI-driven career services help individuals create impressive resumes and prepare for interviews in difficult job markets.

Why We Love Hiration:

  • User-Centric Design: We love their user experience, much like we do at Educato.

  • Career Advancement: They're enabling people to achieve professional success - we love that idea that you start on Educato then progress to Hiration!

4. Avocademy: Designing Futures in UX/UI

First off - Educato was almost called Educado at a time. So any other avocado adjacent startup is already nearly a sister company. Avocademy impressed us with their commitment to making UX/UI design education accessible. Their practical, project-based courses prepare students for in-demand tech careers.

Why We Love Avocademy:

  • Educational Accessibility: They empower more people to get into the tech industry.

  • Mentorship Focus: They offer personalized guidance, which we see as fundamental for learning.
